ute canopy reviews Page 18

Shopping for ute canopies? Fibreglass shells look factory and keep the weather out, but roof‑load ratings are modest and they don’t love heavy racks off‑road.

Alloy canopies are the tradie’s Lego—modular, lighter than steel, and often with decent dynamic roof ratings and good dust sealing if you buy quality.

Steel canopies are tough as a wet week, but heavy; watch your GVM and rear‑axle load once drawers, water and a fridge climb aboard.

Canvas/tub-frame setups are light and cheap, yet offer roughly the security of a soggy tissue and let dust waltz in.

Prioritise dust sealing, dynamic/static roof load, ADR‑compliant mounting, wiring with proper fusing, and a positive‑pressure vent for corrugations.

Check window style (lift‑up vs sliding), central locking integration, and whether the rear door plays nice with the tailgate and reverse camera.

Buy to your use-case: touring needs payload and roof capacity, tradie duty wants access and modularity, and everyone wants fewer rattles than a toddler’s toy box.
