Transferring a vehicle in SA is less gladiatorial than it sounds: the seller lodges a Notice of Disposal with Service SA/DIT, and the buyer applies to transfer the registration.
You’ll need proof of identity, vehicle/VIN details, and a receipt; the buyer pays the transfer fee plus registration duty calculated on the sale price.
Do it online or at a Service SA centre, and get it done within 14 days unless you fancy late fees.
SA usually doesn’t require a roadworthy for private transfers, but the car still has to be, you know, roadworthy—and make sure the seller’s disposal is lodged so their fines don’t follow you home.
