In Victoria, visitors can drive on an overseas licence as long as it’s current and valid.

If it isn’t in English, carry an International Driving Permit or an official translation, and keep your passport/visa with you. Once you become a Victorian resident, you must convert to a local licence within 6 months. Depending on your country and experience, you may need a knowledge test, a drive test, or both, plus proof of identity and Victorian address.
