The Victorian P-Plate power-to-weight ratio limit is a strict rule to keep novice drivers safe and sane on Aussie roads. The limit is 130 kilowatts per tonne, meaning your car's engine power divided by its weight can't exceed this magic number. This effectively bans anything with a turbocharged rocket engine or a V8 monster unless it's properly detuned or weighed down like a caravan.
So, if you're cruising the Tradingpost or CarShowroom for your first set of wheels, make sure the specs don't get you into trouble with VicRoads. P-Plate drivers caught ignoring this can face fines and a swift lesson in humility.
