vic roads cancel registration Page 56

To cancel a vehicle’s rego in Victoria, you’ll need to return the number plates and lodge a cancellation with VicRoads—no plate, no party. Bring or post the plates with the required form; if they’re lost or stolen, you’ll need a police report or a signed declaration. Refunds are usually for any full remaining months, minus an admin fee, because bureaucracy never leaves money on the table. If your rego lapses long enough, VicRoads can cancel it anyway, which is less tidy and more annoying. Once cancelled, don’t drive it on public roads unless you fancy a chat with someone wearing high-vis and a stern expression. Always check the latest VicRoads instructions for the fine print and current fees.
