In Victoria, a Roadworthy Certificate (RWC) isn’t a flat fee—licensed testers set their own rates.

Expect around $180–$300 for a typical passenger car, and roughly $250–$400 for larger 4x4s, utes or older stuff that takes longer to poke and prod.

Re-inspection after fixes usually adds $30–$90, and any repairs are, of course, extra (the bit that actually hurts).

Mobile inspections may charge a call-out fee, and the certificate validity is short—think weeks, not months—so time your sale or transfer.

Remember: the RWC is separate from VicRoads transfer fees and stamp duty, which still take their pound of flesh.
