Ah, Victoria's mobile speed cameras: the ever-watchful eyes lurking in your rearview mirror, eager to turn your road trip into a ticket triumph. These roving sentinels target speeding offenders with laser-like precision, often stationed in vans or discreet spots. Fines start around $200 AUD for minor speeding, scaling up with your velocity and previous offences. Besides the financial sting, demerit points apply, which could affect your licence status.

Common grumbles include:

• Sudden, unexpected placements causing abrupt braking.
• Occasional disputes over camera accuracy.
• Limited signage leading to accusations of trap-setting.
