vin number check victoria Page 7

Want a VIN number check in Victoria? Use the national PPSR (Personal Property Securities Register) to run a VIN search—about the price of a takeaway coffee—and it’ll tell you if the vehicle is financed, stolen, or written-off. Grab the 17‑character VIN from the windscreen plate, compliance plate, or rego papers, then get the PPSR certificate and keep it like it’s your nan’s secret pav recipe. In Victoria, also confirm the rego status via VicRoads and make sure the VIN/engine numbers match what’s on the registration and the seller’s ID.

Do both checks before handing over a single shiny dollar; surprises are great for birthdays, not for car buying. If anything smells odd, walk away—there are plenty more cars in the car-park.
