Short version: most Volkswagens sold in Australia from around 2016 support Apple CarPlay via App‑Connect; earlier cars sometimes needed the App‑Connect option activated.

Plug your iPhone into the USB port with a decent cable, or on many 2020s VWs just pair Bluetooth and follow the prompts for Wireless CarPlay.

If CarPlay isn’t showing, your trim/year may not have it enabled; a dealer software unlock or an aftermarket head unit can fix that.

Golf, Polo, Tiguan, T‑Roc, Passat and the latest Amarok commonly have it—whether it’s wired or wireless depends on year and spec.

Update iOS and the car’s infotainment firmware first, because nothing ruins a road trip faster than a $5 cable pretending to be high-tech.
