volkswagen servicing cost Page 34

Volkswagen servicing in Australia isn’t terrifying, just very German about schedules. Expect a minor/interval service to land around $300–$500 AUD at dealers, and a major service with plugs/filters closer to $700–$1,200 AUD; good independents often trim 20–30% off while keeping the logbook happy.

VW’s 3- or 5-year Care Plans typically total about $1,800–$3,500 AUD depending on model and engine, which usually beats paying per visit if you’ll keep the car. DSG gearboxes and some 4Motion models add extra scheduled bits—think DSG fluid/filter and Haldex/transfer case services—budget an extra $200–$600 AUD when those intervals arrive. Routine items like brake fluid and cabin filters are normal; timing belts only apply to belt-driven engines, not the chain ones—ask before anyone gets spanner-happy. If a dealer quote makes your eyes water, compare with a reputable VW specialist; your wallet will write you a thank-you note in German.
