The Volkswagen T‑Roc is the small SUV for people who still enjoy driving and refuse to sit on marshmallows.
It steers cleanly, rides firmly (especially on big wheels), and the punchy turbo engines make short work of overtakes; the R version is hilariously quick for something shaped like a shoebox.
Inside, the tech is modern and easy—digital instruments, wireless phone mirroring, and solid driver aids—though some plastics still feel more “accountant chic” than “luxury lounge”.
Space is fine for a small family, the boot is useful, and ownership is eased by a 5‑year warranty and widely available servicing.
Downsides? Price creeps up with options, the sporty tunes can get jittery on rough Aussie backroads, and DSG low‑speed manners aren’t everyone’s cup of Bushells (where fitted).
