volvo xc40 2023 review australia Page 2

The 2023 Volvo XC40 is the sensible Swedish hatch-on-stilts that still gets a bit lively when you prod the throttle.

In Australia you can pick smooth petrol mild-hybrids or punchy Recharge EVs, all with a classy cabin, big door bins, and that calm Scandinavian ambience.

Ride comfort is mostly plush, but big wheels can thump over scruffy suburban tarmac, and the steering favours tidy, grown-up responses over heroics.

Tech is straightforward and safety is pure Volvo—five-star ANCAP vibes and driver aids that feel like a polite chaperone.

Practicality is strong for the size with a useful boot and easy access, though rear legroom is merely fine and the EVs carry their weight in corners.

If you want a premium small SUV that’s stylish without shouting, the XC40 nails the brief with a confident, very Swedish shrug.
