vw infotainment system touch screen not working Page 444

Your VW screen’s gone on strike? Typical—fine one minute, diva the next. Before you book a dealer and sell a kidney, try a few quick fixes that don’t require a PhD in German sarcasm.

  • Soft reset: hold the unit’s power button for 10–15 seconds until it reboots (common on MIB2/MIB3).
  • Unplug extras: remove USB drives/SD cards and forget/re-pair Bluetooth—buggy media can freeze the UI.
  • Battery/voltage: a weak 12V can make the head unit sulk; charge or test the battery.
  • Check fuses and connections: consult the owner’s manual for the infotainment fuse and reseat plugs if accessible.
  • Update software: dealers can load newer firmware; some models had known touch-module faults and TSBs.
  • Factory reset as last resort (you’ll lose presets); if the touch still ignores you, the digitiser/screen may have failed.
  • Still broken? Ask the dealer about goodwill or Consumer Law coverage in Australia if the fault is premature.

If none of that revives it, you’re likely looking at a replacement screen or control module—pricey, but at least the radio won’t ghost you anymore.
