Short answer: there’s no genuinely free “REVS check” in WA anymore—Australia moved to the PPSR in 2012.
A proper PPSR search (to see if a vehicle has finance owing, or is recorded as written-off or stolen) costs about AUD $2 per lookup—cheap insurance against buying a lemon.
What is free: a WA rego status check via the Department of Transport, which shows if the vehicle’s licensed and when it expires; handy, but it won’t reveal encumbrances.
So do the free rego check, then spend the coin on PPSR and sleep like a log, not like a gearbox with missing teeth.
