warning light on car Page 79

A warning light on your car is your dash trying to have a serious conversation, not a casual chat.

If it’s red or flashing, pull over safely, switch off, and investigate—think oil pressure, coolant temperature, brake or charging system.

Amber/yellow usually means “book a service soon,” so drive gently and check the owner’s manual; a loose fuel cap can even trigger the check‑engine light.

In Australia, roadside assistance and a basic OBD‑II scanner can save you guesswork and a tow.

Ignore it and that tiny glowing icon can turn into an invoice big enough to make a koala spit.
