In NSW, the law is as clear as a sunny day at Bondi: children under 7 years must be secured in an appropriate child restraint or booster seat. Specifically, children from birth up to at least 6 months require a rearward-facing baby seat, from 6 months to 4 years a forward-facing child seat, and from 4 to 7 years a booster seat. After 7 years, the child can use a standard seat belt, but it’s always wise to check if the belt fits properly.
Failing to comply will see you fined and your licence points docked faster than you can say 'road safety'. So, keep the little ones strapped in safe and sound, and consult ServiceCentral or your local NSW road authority for the latest official rules.
