what are the two ways to install a carseat?

There are exactly two civilised ways to install a child car seat, and both beat the “she’ll be right” method by a country mile.

  • ISOFIX + top tether: Clip the ISOFIX connectors into the lower anchors, tighten firmly, then attach the top tether to the anchor point and remove slack.
  • Seatbelt path + top tether: Thread the vehicle seatbelt through the marked belt path, lock it off per the seat’s instructions, then secure the top tether.

Never use ISOFIX and the seatbelt together, and the top tether is mandatory in Australia.

If in doubt, have an authorised fitter check your work—far cheaper than learning physics the hard way.
