Ah, the thrilling world of P-plate restrictions in South Australia — where your choice of wheels is less about style and more about staying legal (and alive). P-platers in SA must stick to vehicles with a power-to-weight ratio under 130 kW per tonne and a maximum engine capacity of 4.0 litres. That rules out all the juicy V8s and many souped-up hatchbacks, much to the chagrin of young speed enthusiasts.
So, your best mates are sensible sedans, modest SUVs, and most small cars — think Toyota Corolla, Mazda3, or Hyundai i30. Used car sites like Tradingpost and CarShowroom are your friends for hunting suitable rides. Remember, breaking these rules isn’t just a slap on the wrist; it can lead to fines and license suspensions. Drive safe, and maybe save the burnout skills for when the P’s come off.
