what does (a) mean on victorian full licence Page 528

Ah, the mysterious (A) on your Victorian full licence—no, it’s not a secret code or a ticket to a VIP club. It simply denotes that you hold an Automatic transmission only licence. This means you're legally bound to drive vehicles that don't have a manual gearbox, so if you hop into a stick-shift without the proper endorsement, you might just find yourself on the wrong end of a fine.

In Australia, the automatic licence restriction is pretty common, especially for new drivers who learn exclusively on automatics. If you want to upgrade to a full manual licence, you’ll need to pass a practical test in a manual vehicle. For all the nitty-gritty, check the Victorian VicRoads official documentation or visit ServiceCentral for the latest rules.
