what is a grey import Page 153

A grey import vehicle is one sneaky bugger brought into Australia without the official blessing of the local manufacturer or distributor. Often, these cars are imported directly from overseas markets where they might be cheaper or sport rarer specs. While it sounds like an exotic choice, grey imports can be a mixed bag: you might get a unique ride, but be prepared for potential headaches with parts, servicing, and compliance with Aussie safety and emissions standards.

New grey imports cost roughly the same as official models but used prices can vary wildly depending on rarity and condition. For those who crave something off the beaten track, check listings on Tradingpost or CarShowroom, but remember to do your homework on registration and warranty hassles.
