An Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is your car’s way of saying “keep steering while you stomp the pedal.” It uses wheel-speed sensors and a control unit to rapidly pulse brake pressure so the wheels don’t lock, keeping grip and steering control on wet or slippery roads. You’ll feel a buzzing pedal under hard stops—that’s normal, not the car throwing a tantrum. ABS often shortens stopping distances on sealed surfaces, though on loose gravel it may take a whisker longer while still letting you dodge trouble. It’s a safety net, not witchcraft—leave space, look ahead, and let physics have the final word.
