what is crossover Page 44

A crossover is the traffic cop of your audio system, bossing frequencies so the right bits hit the right speakers.

High‑pass filters send only the higher notes to tweeters, low‑pass filters feed the bass to subs, and band‑pass keeps mids in their lane—no more tweeters wheezing under kick‑drums.

They come as passive units (little boxes with coils and caps after the amp) or active crossovers inside head units/amps with adjustable slopes and cutoff points.

As a ballpark: set subs around 70–100 Hz (LPF), mids around 80–3,000 Hz (band‑pass), and tweeters from about 2–3 kHz up (HPF), then fine‑tune by ear and measurement. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
