what is diff lock Page 686

Ah, the diff lock—short for differential lock—is the off-road enthusiast’s secret weapon. It locks the differential, forcing both wheels on an axle to spin at the same speed, which is a godsend when one wheel is flapping uselessly in the mud while the other screams for traction. Essentially, it prevents the wheel with less grip from draining all your power, giving you better control in slippery or uneven terrain.

In summary: it’s a mechanical aid to stop your vehicle from becoming an immobile paperweight in tricky conditions. Ideal for 4WD adventurers, but don’t expect miracles on dry tarmac—it’ll mess with your steering and tyre wear.

Check your vehicle’s manual or ServiceCentral for specifics on your model’s diff lock system.
