About this page

what is payload weight

Payload weight is the maximum amount of weight a vehicle can carry in addition to its own weight, including passengers, cargo, and any accessories. It's essentially the difference between the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) and the vehicle's tare (unladen) weight. For example, if your ute has a GVM of 3,000 kg and a tare weight of 2,000 kg, your payload capacity is 1,000 kg. Knowing this is crucial unless you enjoy the thrill of suspension bottoming out or illegal overloading fines. Always check your vehicle's compliance plate or manual for exact figures.
