P2 is the second provisional licence stage in Australia—the green Ps—aka “you’re almost an adult driver, but not quite”. It typically lasts about 24 months (varies by state), and you must display green P plates front and rear.
You’re on a 0.00 BAC, face a lower demerit point threshold, and mobile phone use is generally banned—even hands‑free in many states. High‑powered vehicle restrictions often still apply, as do penalties that sting harder than a magpie in spring. After P2, you graduate to a full licence if you behave yourself.
