In WA, children under 4 must ride in the back in an approved restraint; the front seat is off-limits unless the vehicle only has one row of seats.
Kids aged 4 to under 7 may use the front seat only if all suitable rear seats are already occupied by younger children, and they must be in an appropriate booster with a properly anchored tether.
Never use a rearward-facing seat in the front if there’s an active passenger airbag—unless you fancy testing it the hard way.
From 7 years up, the front seat is legal with a correctly fitted seatbelt, but the back remains the safer spot.
Rules can evolve and edge cases exist, so check the WA Department of Transport guidance if you’re unsure.
