when is cheap fuel day Page 794

Short answer: in most Aussie capitals, the cheapest petrol usually shows up early in the week — often Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday, before the cycle spikes again.

But price cycles aren’t clockwork; they vary by city and can stretch or compress with demand, holidays and refinery shenanigans. The smart play is to top up when prices are near the bottom of the cycle and avoid filling right after a big price hike. Use your state’s fuel-price app (e.g., FuelCheck NSW, RACQ, FuelWatch WA, MotorMouth) to watch the trend like a hawk with a calculator.

If you’re road-tripping, fill up a day or two before long weekends — servo owners love a holiday surge almost as much as meat pies. Save your drama for the traffic, not the bowser.
