when was genesis written

The Book of Genesis, dear seeker, is believed to have been written over a sprawling timeline, with scholars generally dating its composition between circa 1400 and 400 BCE. It's a patchwork of oral traditions and ancient texts compiled into the form we know today. So, if you're hunting for a precise date, you're out of luck—think of it as the ancient world's version of a long-running soap opera.

For a more scholarly take, consulting theological commentaries or historical biblical scholarship is your best bet.
