Short version: use whatever your car’s handbook demands; anything fancier is a donation to the servo’s coffee machine.
In Australia, regular unleaded is 91 RON, premium is 95 RON, and super-premium is 98 RON; E10 is usually about 94 RON if your car is compatible.
If your engine is tuned for 91, running 95/98 won’t sprout extra kilowatts—maybe a whisper of economy, maybe not, definitely extra dollars per litre.
High-compression, turbo or performance engines often require 95 or 98; if you hear pinging/knock under load, step up a grade and behave.
For most daily drivers, 91 (or E10 where allowed) is the sensible pick; save the premium for long trips, track days, or when you’re feeling fancy.
Bottom line: check the fuel flap or owner’s manual, follow that, and spend the savings on tyres or snacks—preferably not both at once.
