Ah, the age-old mystery of why the United States insists on driving on the right side. It all traces back to the post-Revolutionary War era when the young nation wanted to ditch British customs. Unlike Europe, where aristocrats rode on the left, American wagons pulled by teams of horses preferred the right to keep the whip hand free and avoid collisions. Plus, French influence (they drive on the right) played a part after their help in the war. So, the right side became the standard, a rebellious twist that stuck around like a stubborn rust stain.
