If you want a winery close to Melbourne, the Yarra Valley is your easy winner’s circle—about 60–70 km east, roughly an hour if the traffic gods smile. Southbound, the Mornington Peninsula serves pinot and sea breezes in about 75–100 km and 1–1.5 hours. Prefer cool-climate charm? The Macedon Ranges sit roughly 60 km northwest, about an hour, with altitude doing delicious things to grapes. Pick a region, point the bonnet, and pretend you’re a sommelier with a steering wheel.
