“Mirror to the Sky” is Yes doing late-career prog with the confidence of a band that’s earned its cape—and the patience to actually use it. You get long, sweeping epics, plush symphonic layers, airy vocals and guitar lines polished enough to see your face in. It’s more graceful glide than white-knuckle detour: faithful to classic Yes sensibilities without pretending it’s 1972 and everyone owns a lava lamp. The production is pristine, the playing tidy, and the melodies sneak up rather than kick down the door. Fans of modern Yes will feel well fed; cynics will call it comfortable, then accidentally hum track three in the shower. In short: expansive, stately, and better than it needs to be for a band with this many miles on the odometer.
