1948 MV Agusta 125 Faenza GP Racer
MV Agusta's first 125 was available in both road and racing versions. With motorcycle racing becoming increasingly popular, manufacturers were striving to upgrade their machines' performance. The strength of this motorbike lies in its subtlety and graceful design. It owed its 55 kg dry weight to a small 125cc engine featuring a 3-speed gearbox and a thin-walled tubed frame. The 125 Tre Marce was equipped with a parallelogram fork at the front and sliding suspensions at the back. This racing machine was hastily modified to enhance its competitive edge, the most striking evidence of which is the enlarged finned cylinder head designed to improve its cooling efficiency. This small 125 to which MV owes its first major success was ridden to victory by Franco Bertoni at the "Grand Prix des Nations" held in Faenza in 1948 and is today praised as one of the pioneers of the brand's success.
This particular example has been beautifully preserved in âas-racedâ condition and according to the MV Agusta Factory, this is the only known original Faenza in existence and is located with our Ital agent in Spoleto.
