In Australia, look for wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, a bright capacitive screen (7–9 inch), DAB+, three pre-outs (ideally high-voltage), and decent built-in amplification—then you’re laughing.

Brands like Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood and Alpine are safe bets; the pricier models add hi-res DACs, cleaner preamps and slicker interfaces rather than miracle horsepower.

New units typically run about AUD $350–$1,800+; used bargains land around $150–$800 if you’re patient and not fussy about boxes.

Check your car-specific fascia kit, ISO harness and steering-wheel control adapter—Tradingpost and local installers often bundle the bits so it actually fits first go.
